Middle College secretary Anita Green hides a nifty secret: she likes to ride Harley-Davidsons in her down time.

Most people expect a school secretary to be inside creatures, but that’s not the case for Middle College secretary Anita Green. While Green comes in for work every morning and helps kids find their classes and set up meetings with the staff, just walking in to the school office you’d never know that she has a wild side.

Green is a motorcycle rider. She and her husband Rick own a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that they ride regularly.  While Green said should would rather have a Honda, she and her husband have ridden to 44 states and Canada on their bike. “We ride every weekend when we can,” said Green.

Other Middle College workers are impressed by Green’s hobby.

“I was very surprised when I found out she likes motorcycles,” Said Cindy Wilson, assistant director of the Middle College program, “because Anita is quiet and conservative, but I was also excited because I am also a motorcycle rider.”

The first time Green rode a bike was when her husband got a 1989 Honda Goldwing. “My husband brought it up to me one weekend,” Said Green. “He asked me to try it but I was terrified. So it took some convincing, but once I finally took a ride, I loved it.”

“I’ve driven the bike,” said Green, “but only a couple of times.”

One time Green and her husband rode to Iowa.

“I and my husband were traveling when I got a bad headache,” said Green. “We stopped off at a truck stop and I took what I had thought to be Advil but later realized as I fell asleep on the bike that it was Advil P.M.” The couple had to get a hotel room until Green could sleep off the medication.

Anita Green is planning on keeping her bike that she has now and probably won’t get another.

“I love the thrill of riding. It is a lot fun,” said Green.
